Many different shots can be used around the greens during a round of golf. There are pitch shots, punch shots, chip shots, and the flop shot. They all have their own unique characteristics and good sides to them, but also they all have situations where one is a clear cut better decision than another for each situation. Specific shots may need to be played depending on the situation.
Many of them are very difficult to play, while some aren’t as much. All the best players in the world use these shots to win tournaments and these shots allow them to make a living playing golf. If you were to ask any of them which are the riskiest they all would most likely say the flop shot.
In the same way, many of them will credit this shot in them winning a golf tournament at some point in their career. Some players like Phil Mickelson became famous for their ability to hit this shot. But all in all this shot can be a very effective shot to have in a player’s arsenal.
There are many ways to position yourself to begin to hit this shot. The easiest way is to begin by setting up with your feet open to the left of the target for a right-handed player, and to the right side of the target for a left-handed player. After this, you will rotate your hands on the club’s grip to where it is almost parallel to the ground.
Once you are at this point you then try and decide exactly how hard you are going to need to hit this shot. This may take some time to get to a point where you know exactly how hard you need swing but they all take practice.
The more you practice these shots the more confident you will become standing over the ball when you need to hit this type of shot. If you are to ask any of the top players in the world they will all say the same thing, practice is the only way to get better at any of the shots that come with playing the game of golf. Finally, you begin your swing.
All you want to do at this point is to try and sweep the clubface under the ball and let the club do the work. With practice, this can take your game to the next level.
